About the Chapter
The Troy Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), has served our community for over 120 years and continues to work diligently to promote patriotism, historic preservation, and education for children. Our recent priorities include:
Honoring veterans by participating in Wreaths Across America, Honor Flights, and other support services;
Raising funds to purchase wreaths for Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery;
Writing and sending cards for the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight Mail Call program;
Organizing a send-off for the local trucking company as it heads to Maine to pick up wreaths to be delivered to Arlington National Cemetery;
Providing breakfast at the Lincoln County Veterans Coffee Talk;
Erecting and dedicating a memorial to Lincoln County American Revolutionary War Patriots;
Mapping the historical section of the local cemetery;
Collecting school supplies for local and DAR-sponsored schools;
Participating in the Story Link literacy program, which connects female inmates at the Vandalia Women’s Prison with their children. Volunteers also record the women reading books and send the recordings and books to their children.
- Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Wreaths Across America Day, showcasing the over 100 chapter-sponsored wreaths laid by chapter members.
- The chapter maintains a monument honoring Patriots of the American Revolutionary War who lived, were buried, or had probate records in Lincoln County, Missouri.
- Chapter members participated in a "Service in Minutes" program by making patriotic cards for the veterans in the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight.
- Chapter members and their families enjoy volunteering in the annual Wreaths Across America Day celebration at Jefferson Barracks, where chapter members laid over 100 wreaths.

Chapter History
The Troy Chapter, NSDAR, was officially organized on March 28, 1914, with the assistance of the late Clarence Cannon, 9th District United States Representative. The name Troy was chosen as a chapter name because Troy was the first pioneer settlement in Lincoln County, Missouri. Miss Georgia Richards, at age 22, was appointed the organizing regent on November 19, 1913, and served until the fall of 1916. The placement of a red granite millstone on the Woods Fort Historical Park and a gray granite stone to honor proven DAR Patriots who lived in Lincoln County, Missouri, illustrates our chapter's enthusiasm for our beloved motto: “God, Home, and Country.”

Do you have a Patriot ancestor?
Researching your family lineage is a major step in becoming a member of the DAR. Documentation proving your direct lineage to a Patriot ancestor who fought in the American Revolutionary War or who aided in achieving American independence is required for membership.
All known DAR Patriot ancestors are cataloged in the NSDAR Genealogical Research System (GRS), an online collection of databases that preserve historical documents and records. The DAR provides this ever-growing wealth of research information as a resource tool for lineage and ancestry exploration.
