Limit 250 words. This is the FACE of the chapter - the "storefront" inviting the public to learn more about the chapter. This section is used to showcase current chapter activities that promote the DAR objectives (historic preservation, education, and patriotism/veterans) in your city/community. Consider whether a prospective member would understand the content; would they consider it welcoming. Mention special projects or events (general info - no specifics or dates. Examples: Our chapter hosts an event for veterans every year in November at the XYZ school where we …, We support the XYZ school by…, Members preserve the XYZ cemetery with …, We present awards in the community for …). Check the chapter’s Service to America activities for your chapter’s service in the community. List how many hours of service your members volunteer in the city/community and mention some of the activities. Do not include calendars, DAR-specific or DAR internal information, or chapter history. Check out the recently approved Missouri websites for further ideas. Saint Charles, Agnes Hill, Ozark Springs, and Clark County.

Do you have a Patriot ancestor?

Researching your family lineage is a major step in becoming a member of the DAR. Documentation proving your direct lineage to a Patriot ancestor who fought in the American Revolutionary War or who aided in achieving American independence is required for membership.

All known DAR Patriot ancestors are cataloged in the NSDAR Genealogical Research System (GRS), an online collection of databases that preserve historical documents and records. The DAR provides this ever-growing wealth of research information as a resource tool for lineage and ancestry exploration.
