Invites You to Join Us!

This chapter of the Missouri State Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (MSSDAR), is located in Clinton County. Chapter meetings are generally held on a Tuesday once a month from September through June, with some exceptions. Contact the chapter directly for meeting times and locations.

About the Chapter

Our motto is "God, Home, and Country." Our membership consists of over 40 ladies who enjoy the warm, friendly atmosphere and hospitality brought by meeting together. We share the fun and excitement of our activities and the friendships that bond us for a lifetime. Our chapter is very active in Clinton County and the surrounding counties, participating in many activities promoting our National Society’s goals of historic preservation, education, and patriotism, such as honoring local veterans with the MSSDAR Patriots of the Month recognition.

We take at least two field trip excursions to surrounding areas of interest and hold a genealogy workshop every year.

We hope you will join us during one of our chapter meetings to learn more about our organization and what makes us “Today’s DAR!” We look forward to welcoming you to our friendly group!

Chapter History

An organizational meeting for a new National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution chapter was held on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1977, in the home of Mrs. Porter, in Lathrop, Missouri. Mrs. Shire, State Organizing Chair, presided over the meeting with 46 DAR ladies serving as organizing and charter members. The name, Missouris Shoal, was chosen to represent the historical and geographic significance of Clinton County.  The Missouris Tribe of Native Americans lived in the area. Shoal Creek is a waterway in the county.

Do you have a Patriot ancestor?

Researching your family lineage is a major step in becoming a member of the DAR. Documentation proving your direct lineage to a Patriot ancestor who fought in the American Revolutionary War or who aided in achieving American independence is required for membership.

All known DAR Patriot ancestors are cataloged in the NSDAR Genealogical Research System (GRS), an online collection of databases that preserve historical documents and records. The DAR provides this ever-growing wealth of research information as a resource tool for lineage and ancestry exploration.
